The OSI President paid a visit to Argentina to strengthen the links between OSI and the Government of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires as well as the Argentinean National Government, and the private sector.
Dr Sebek, and Dr Paulo Botta, an OSI Director and member of OSI Scientific and Academic Advisory Board met with Ms Paola Di Chiaro, the Chief of Staff of the Sub Secretariat of International Relations of the Government of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, with a group of researchers of the Foundation “Pensar”, the think-tank of the Pro Party, and representatives of the Argentinian Navy, Captain Gustavo Ricardo Grunschlager, Rear Admiral (r) Ricardo Luis Alessandrini, from the Department of Research and Naval Strategic Studies (CEEPADE), and Rear Admiral (r) Eduardo Raul Castro Rivas, also of CEEPADE. They also met with Mr Eduardo A. Seguetti, the President of GLOBAL PRO to discuss the relationship between OSI and this Argentinian company which manufactures eco friendly products.
Discussions with the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires focused on partnerships in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean which OSI offered to broker, as well a possible Agreement of cooperation between the City of Buenos Aires with cities in Asia and Africa. Discussions with the Argentinian Navy centred on the programme of the Argenitnian Government including participation of the Presidency, called “Pampa Azul” and the linkages with OSI´s regional programmes. Talks with the researchers from the think tank of the Pro Party called “Pensar” explored the outreach which OSI could provide to this think tank with similar centers in its broad geographical areas of operation. Last, but not the least, Dr. Sebek and Dr. Botta explored with the President of GLOBAL PRO, the possibility of OSI certification of a user friendly technology which this Argentinian company developed to treat sewage, especially at airports and in ports in accordance with one of the decisions contained in the OSI Lima Declaration. It was hoped that GLOBAL PRO might become the first corporate member of OSI.
